Spring Break!!

Spring Break started off right with the awesome weekend we had!

Since Ryan's worked Monday I used that day to get some r&r and good spring cleaning!

When Ryan got home Tuesday morning I was ready to go for our date day!

After taking my car to get new brakes (yaay--adulthood!!) we went out to the outdoor mall to see The Vow. We loved it!! Ok. I did! Even if Ryan didn't he acted like he did..for me. Haha! We were able to walk around some and do some small shopping. It was fun. :)

The rest of the day was pretty low key. Ryan had to go to training so I did more shopping. Getting ready for St. Patty's Day!

Our Weekend

Maybe knowing I didn't have to work for a week made this weekend more enjoyable. Or maybe it was just the incredible time with Husband. :)

Friday::Husband was working. I went to dinner with my Big from Chi O. Who by the way is the best big ever!! We went to Luna, which still takes the cake for the worst service. :/ I keep giving it chances and keep leaving disappointed! I, however, was not disappointed with the option to order 3 mini-margaritas to sample for the price of 1! The evening was filled with good conversation and catching up. :)

Saturday::The day was a bit lazy. Maybe the rainy weather? Or again, knowing I didn't have to work for a week! Nonetheless the laziness was appreciated! We then got ready for a night out with our good friends, Layn and Jess! Dinner @ Hooters complete with balloon animals. Then a winning game with the Dallas Stars complete with noise makers!

Sunday::Daylight Saving Time! We overslept and missed church. Then realized it was time to quickly get ready to go to the FC Dallas game. We had so much fun with some friends from my school. :)

Our weekend was complete with a homemade dinner & movie.

Cheers to a great week!

Just a Sunday Dinner

It's so much more fun to cook on a Sunday. After church, life group, and lunch I went to the grocery store to get stuff for Chicken Parmesan in the crock pot!

Ryan called me as I was getting in the car to leave and told me we didn't have chicken! I went back in the store to get some--I walked out with a pound of raw shrimp and a bottle of wine!

So I kinda made this recipe up and it was yum-o!

First, de-tail and peel shrimp
Then, dip one by one in a bowl with 2 beaten eggs
After that, dip into a bowl with Italian bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese
Add shrimp to a deep skillet to cook until pink.
Add 1 jar of marinara sauce to shrimp.
Serve over a bed of spaghetti noodles.

I bought the Light Cesar Salad kit which was perfect for the 2 of us and lunch for us tomorrow!

Cheers!

What is for Dinner??

We often talk about what our hobbies are. Sometimes we question if we even have any? Haha!

I think I've decided 1 of mine is cooking! I love to cook. And even more now that I have a husband to cook for! I'm definitely not a pro but it's something I enjoy doing.

People at school often ask me for my recipes when I bring leftovers for lunch. Seriously though...I make some easy stuff! ;)

Tonight's menu:: shrimp Parmesan with marinara and whole wheat spaghetti noodles. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

P.S. After all this cooking maybe I should make going to the gym more a hobby!

Romantic Wine Night

Well...Husband has been reading "our" blog and took a tip!

Ryan created an event in his calendar titled Romantic Wine Night. He added me to invitee and I accepted!

The plan was to have dinner at home then go to KE Cellars Winery.

::Side Note:: Ryan was "hired" to volunteer for the Fate Fire Department. This was a longer process than just signing up to volunteer. It really makes you have more respect for volunteer departments, and I'm very proud of Ryan for getting on.

So Friday Ryan spent most of the day at the fire station. He decided we would go out for dinner since he didn't have time to go to the g store. :)

We had dinner at Campisi's. The pizza we shared was yummy! And even though this was a "Romantic Wine Night" we each had a beer that my mom suggested!

::Another Side Note:: When you schedule a date night--you stick to your schedule! That's what makes it special. Nothing can get in the way.

While we were getting ready, Ryan's brother, Justin, texted to see what we were doing. We haven't seen Justin since Christmas!

Ryan and I had a nice dinner date and a super nice wine double date with Justin and his friend Katie. :)

So the night was still romantic and we still had some wine. But we also had a great time!

Cheers!

REMEMBER Date Night

Wow! This week has been pretty busy!! Which is good! I like to stay busy!! But I am late on this post...we have ANOTHER date night tonight so I thought I better hurry and blog about Monday's date night!

Monday's date night was one of the date cards we got from church. It was the Remember date night. I'll just go through the steps of what we did in case you want to do it too! :)

Step 1: Pick a date. We chose our date then decided that we wanted steaks on the grill & baked potatoes. YUM!

Step 2: We each wrote (in our journal) what we think the purpose of our marriage is. I won't share what we each wrote, but it was nice to read what each other wrote. :)

Step 3: Listen to the pod cast provided by our church. At the beginning of the pod cast was a powerful testimony from a couple who "fell off the tracks" a little in their marriage, but also how wonderful it was that they began living a God honoring marriage. One of the pastors from our church also spoke. He gave biblical references on how to live a God honoring marriage.

Step 4: As we sat down for dinner we prayed together. We do this before every meal. We started out praying silently (holding hands) then squeezing each other's hand when we were finishing praying. I've started praying out loud for the both of us since I'll want us to set that example for our children (one day!).

Step 5: We read what each other wrote in the journal about the purpose of our marriage. We then talked about how that relates to what we listened to on the pod cast. The same verse stood out to both of us: Ephesians 5:21-33. I encourage you to look it up. :) Interpret it as you may, but here's how we view it...wives are to respect their husbands (even if they don't deserve it!) as they are the head of the household...as Christ is the head of the church. At the same time husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church (big responsibility!) and again...even if they don't deserve it!
--I know this can be tough (especially if you're stubborn like us!) but you'll see that the more you remember this the easier it is to get through those times when you want to stay strong and fight!

Step 6: We then discussed which parts of our marriage are easier and which are harder...here are the examples from the date night card that we discussed:
--A Covenant Marriage: A lifelong, unbreakable commitment
--A Passionate Marriage: Fully giving myself physically AND emotionally
--A Fighting Marriage: Forgiving quickly and fighting FOR the relationship
--A One-Sided Marriage: Placing your needs above my own
--A Heroic Marriage: Humbling myself and serving you

Step 7: What one thing will I try to do that could help move our marriage closer to the masterpiece it should be?
--Ryan said me putting my dishes from the sink into the dishwasher! If that's all I need to do then I'm doing pretty good! ;)

Step 8: We then made a plan of 5 places we'd like to go (money, time, etc. are no object!) and what we'd like to do (an adventure we've never tried). We will keep this list and hopefully get to check some off throughout our "Masterpiece Marriage" ;)

I'm sorry this one is so long. If you are looking for date night ideas I hope you'll find this helpful. We have another date night tonight that Ryan has planned...we shall see where the night will take us! I'll blog about that one later. :)

CHEERS!
